Appointments
Jaclyn and Danielle consult from our main room and additional locations. Our main rooms are located at 84 Wattletree Road, Armadale, Jaclyn also offers appointments at the Cabrini Mother and Baby Centre, also in Malvern, and Wellness on Wellington in Rowville. Danielle also offers appointments at the Cabrini Mother and Baby Centre. These locations have different facilities so depending on the nature of your visit, it may be recommended that your appointment be at one of these locations, rather than the other.
If your problem is of an urgent nature, please let our reception staff know and we will endeavour to accommodate you. If your problem involves bleeding in pregnancy, severe pain or bleeding after menopause please let our staff know so that we can prioritise you.
For your first appointment with Jaclyn, please allow 30 minutes. Review appointments may take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the concern and how long since we last saw you. Please ensure you bring all recent scans and blood tests as well as a list of any medications you are currently taking. If you do not have copies, just let us know where and when you had your tests performed and our clerical staff will only be too happy to get hold of the results.
Please ensure that you have a valid GP referral (dated within the last 12 months) so that you can receive the Medicare rebate for your visit.
It is important to us that each patient receives the time and attention that they need and although we do our best to keep to schedule, there are occasions when your appointment is delayed.
If delays are significant we will try to update you – we know you are busy and have better things to do than sit around in a waiting room. Please do us the same courtesy by phoning if you are running late, giving plenty of notice if you need to reschedule an appointment and keep your contact details up to date with our reception staff. We appreciate your understanding that sometimes emergencies happen (at the most inconvenient times)!

Cancellation policy
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know with as much notice as possible. Cancellations more than 24 hours before your appointment do not incur a fee. Last minute cancellations will be subject to 50% of the missed consultation’s fee. No notification and no attendance at a scheduled appointment limits our ability to look after other patients in your place and will incur the full fee of the missed appointment.
Of course, if your visit is for pregnancy care and you have been admitted to hospital or are in labour, no fee will be charged.
Fees + Medicare
What do the fees cover?
For obstetric services, you will obtain 24/7 access to your own doctor (and on the rare occasions when she is unavailable, her most trusted colleagues are on call in her place). You can contact Jaclyn via phone or email an unlimited number of times, day or night. If you need to go to hospital during your pregnancy, other than for the birth of your child, your doctor will still be involved in your care every step of the way.
Anaesthetists, paediatricians and other health professionals have their own fees but we will always endeavour to give you an estimate of costs prior to engaging one of our colleagues on your behalf.
Our fees are as such so that we can deliver the highest quality, personalised health care and are in line with the Australian Medical Association (AMA) recommended schedule of fees.
Payment is required on the day of consultation.
What are the fees?
(Effective from 1st July 2020)
Gynaecology
Initial Consultation (MBS item 104)
- Payable on the Day $230.00
- Minimum Medicare Rebate* $76.80
Review appointment (MBS item 105)
- Payable on the Day $115.00
- Minimum Medicare Rebate* $38.60
In-rooms procedures such as IUD insertion and colposcopy may involve additional fees, most of which is rebated by Medicare.
*If your family has reached the Extended Medicare Safety Net cap for the calendar year, you may be eligible for a higher level of rebate.
Surgical procedures
Surgical procedures: Some procedures have out of pocket costs or “gaps”, however some are performed under a “no gap” arrangement. The costs vary depending on the procedure type and your fund’s rebate schedule. We will provide an estimate and Informed Finacial Consent prior to all elective procedures. You should also factor in the cost of your hospital excess (the price depends on your individual policy) and occasionally small out of pocket charges for pathology or diagnostic imaging.
Post-operative reviews, 5 to 7 days after your procedure, are free of charge
Anaesthetic fees are separate and we will arrange a quote on your behalf.
Obstetrics
Please contact us directly for a detailed quote of fees pertaining to obstetric care with Embrace Women’s Health
Medicare Claiming
Medicare rebates apply for outpatient services and both Medicare and private health fund rebates apply to inpatient (hospital admitted) episodes.
In order to receive benefits from Medicare, make sure you have a valid GP referral and that you have linked your bank account details to your Medicare online account. Medicare stopped issuing benefit cheques on 1st of July 2016 so if you haven’t linked your bank account, you won’t get your refund!
Note: Medicare will only reimburse 85% of the MBS (Medicare Benefit Schedule) fee for a specialist consultation and 75% of in-hospital care. Sadly, the rebates (and schedule fees) lag well behind the cost of providing quality healthcare.
Private health Insurance and out of pocket (OOP) fees
Private health insurance does not cover you for outpatient services but will reimburse you at least the remaining 25% of the MBS benefit for inpatient episodes. Some funds include gap cover, and will pay the entire difference between the specialist’s fees and what Medicare will cover. You will need to check with your individual fund to find out if this applies to you, or if you will still have an out of pocket charge for in-hospital care.
Medicare Safety Net
Once you have reached a threshold amounts in gap payments (gap between Medicare benefit and schedule fee) for a given calendar year, your rebates will automatically increase to a higher level. The Extended Medicare Safety Net covers outpatient visits, blood tests, ultrasound scans and other services. For more information, refer to:

Hospitals
Jaclyn and Danielle have accreditation at a number of hospitals in Melbourne’s eastern and south eastern suburbs and are happy to deliver your baby at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern or Jessie McPherson Private Hospital which is located on the grounds of Monash Medical Centre Clayton.
Gynaecological surgery is usually performed at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern but can also be arranged at a different hospital, depending on your individual needs and the procedure itself. If you do not have private health insurance, Jaclyn can still perform all in-rooms care and if surgery is required, this can be facilitated by referring you to a public hospital waiting list for Monash Health.
